Salam Resort planned to become a luxurious resort located in the south western region of Bahrain. The first phase of the project had to be completed according to a very stringent schedule in order that the resort was going to become the venue of the GCC leaders meeting in 2009. Salam Resort consisted of a high-rise hotel structure, a conference center, a health spa, bars and restaurants, villas and a commercial center, a network of channels in between the structures, bridges, roads and landscaping. The first phase of the project comprised an area of 240,000 m2 excluding the development of the island.
